About the GPR Program

General Practice Residency Training Program

The UBC GPR program offers two residency tracks: Hospital Dentistry and Geriatric Dentistry. The Hospital Dentistry Residency Track offers four resident positions. The Geriatric Dentistry Residency Track offers one resident position. Please read the Information Sheet for further information regarding each Residency Track.

Hospital Dentistry Residency Track

The University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry, in conjunction with Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), British Columbia Cancer Agency, and British Columbia Children’s Hospital offers four (4) positions in a one-year General Practice Residency (GPR) (Hospital Dentistry Residency Track) Program beginning in June of each year.

Geriatric Dentistry Residency Track

The University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry, in conjunction with Providence Healthcare, Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), British Columbia Cancer Agency, and the UBC Geriatric Dentistry Program, offers one (1) position in a one-year General Practice Residency (GPR) Program (Geriatric Dentistry Residency Track) beginning in June of each year. This residency track is affiliated with the UBC GPR program but has an enhanced clinical and didactic curriculum focused on addressing the oral health needs of the aging population with a focus on underserved populations. Interested applicants are encouraged to visit Vancouver to meet our staff and current residents, and to tour the facilities at any time throughout the year.

The deadline for the receipt of fully documented applications is OCTOBER 3rd for entry to the program the following year.

The Match

The GPR program is registered with The Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program (the “Match”). Applicants can register for the Match via the Match website at natmatch.com/dentres It is recommended that applicants join the Match prior to October 1st. Applicants should not send anything related to their application to the Match.

Applications will be managed through the Match Program and the registration portal can be accessed from the Match web site or directly. Applicants must adhere to the schedule of dates provided through the Match website www.natmatch.com/dentres.
